Everything people ask before they book
Below are the questions we hear most often from customers across Quincy, Adams County, and Hannibal, grouped by topic so you can jump to what you need. If you don't see your question here, call us at (217) 860-6534 and we'll give you a straight answer.
Part 1
Booking a Dumpster
How far in advance do I need to book?
For Quincy itself, calling in the morning often gets you same-day delivery. The Adams County villages are usually same-day or next-day depending on that day's route, and Hannibal, Missouri, is typically next-day. Booking a day or two ahead gives you the most flexibility on your delivery window.
What do you need from me to give a quote?
Your address, what kind of project it is (cleanout, roofing tear-off, construction debris, yard waste, and so on), a rough sense of how much material you have, and where on your property the container will sit. That's usually enough for a flat quote over the phone.
How long do I get to keep the dumpster?
Most residential rentals run about 7 to 10 days, with extensions available if your project runs long. Tell us your expected timeline when you book so it's part of the quote instead of an add-on fee later.
Can I change my delivery date after I've booked?
Yes, as long as you give us reasonable notice. Call the yard directly and we'll move your slot if the schedule allows it. This comes up often around weather delays and construction schedule changes.
Part 2
Pricing
How much does a dumpster rental cost around Quincy?
Pricing in this market generally runs about $275 to $800 depending on container size, weight, and where the delivery lands. That's a general market range, not a quote for your specific job. Once we know your size and project type, we'll give you a flat number before booking.
Is the quoted price the final price?
Yes, as long as the load matches what you described when you booked. If a container comes back significantly heavier than expected or has prohibited material in it, we'll explain any added cost before it hits your bill, not after.
What's included in the flat price?
Delivery, pickup, a set rental period, and a set weight allowance based on the container size you chose. Overage weight, extra rental days, and prohibited materials are the main things that can add to a quote.
Do you charge extra to place the dumpster carefully?
No. Careful, driveway-aware placement is part of every delivery we do, not an upcharge.
Part 3
Permits & Placement
Do I need a permit to put a dumpster in my driveway in Quincy?
If the container sits entirely on your own driveway or private property, no permit is needed. If it needs to sit in the street or public right-of-way, City of Quincy municipal code section 91.172 covers dumpster placement there and requires that it be positioned so it doesn't create a hazard to the public. Call us and we'll walk through where your container can go.
What about placement rules in the villages outside Quincy?
Rules vary by village, and most of the smaller Adams County communities don't have the same kind of formal code section Quincy does. If your dumpster needs to sit anywhere other than your own driveway or yard, check with your local village office, and we're happy to help you think through placement when you book.
Will the dumpster damage my driveway or yard?
Not if it's placed correctly. We use protective boards under the container's rails on asphalt, pavers, and older concrete, and we ask about your surface and slope before delivery day so the driver knows what to expect.
Can the dumpster sit on grass or gravel instead of a paved surface?
Usually, yes, especially at rural properties outside Quincy. Tell us about the surface when you book so we can plan for it and avoid ruts or damage.
Part 4
Service Area
What areas do you serve?
Quincy plus all 13 incorporated villages of Adams County — Camp Point, Clayton, Coatsburg, Columbus, Golden, La Prairie, Liberty, Lima, Loraine, Mendon, Payson, Plainville, and Ursa — and Hannibal, Missouri, across the river.
What's the difference between same-day and next-day service?
Quincy is close enough to our S 7th St yard that same-day delivery is realistic on most weekdays if you call in the morning. The Adams County villages are usually same-day or next-day, depending on where our routes are already headed that day. Hannibal, roughly 21 road miles away across the Mississippi, is typically a next-day delivery since it's its own trip.
Do you really deliver to all 13 villages?
Yes. It's not always the same-day promise you'd get in Quincy, but we cover every one of them — from Camp Point down to Ursa — on a regular basis.
Do you deliver into Missouri?
Yes, we regularly deliver to Hannibal, Missouri. Since it's across the river and a separate trip from our Adams County routes, plan on next-day delivery rather than same-day.
Part 5
What Can Go In
What kinds of materials can go in the dumpster?
Household junk, furniture, construction and demolition debris, roofing material, yard waste, and most general cleanout material are fine. If you're not sure about something specific, ask when you book.
What's not allowed in a rented dumpster?
Hazardous materials, chemicals, tires, batteries, paint, and certain electronics generally aren't allowed. We cover the full list of what's allowed and what isn't in more detail on our blog, but when in doubt, just ask us before you throw it in.
Can I mix different types of debris in the same dumpster?
Usually, yes, for most residential and general cleanout jobs. Heavy debris like concrete or dirt sometimes needs its own container or a size adjustment because of weight limits, so mention it when you book.
